I have a question about installing a hydraulic system on a 77 Oliver. Would a system off of a Super series or a triple digit system by able to go on to a 77. I am trying to help my dad out as he has this 77 but needs hydraulics to run some newer equipment that he has gotten. Also does anyone have a hydraulic system that they would like to part with? Thanks for the help. John.

77, 88, Super 77 & 88, 770 and 880 hydraulics will all interchange. The pto drive shaft that runs from the pto clutch to the flywheel has to come out to install the hyd unit. I'm not sure if the power lift will come off without removing the shaft or not. This shaft runs through the hyd pump to drive it. There is a gear in the top of trans that drives the power lift. It must come out for the pump to sit down in trans. I had an 88 that I converted. I let the tractor run idle and laid a hacksaw blade on the gear/shaft and cut the gear off. Clean up as much shavings as you can. There is also a cast shaft support bracket in there that has to come out. It helps stabilize the pto shaft. Is in the way and won't need it because the pump supports the shaft. No big deal, one or two bolts hold it in place. You get inside the tranny and see it this stuff will make sense.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I have a good running 77 with power lift. I also have a super 77 parts tractor with hydraulics that I'm considering taking the hydraulic unit off of and putting it on the 77.

A hydraulic unit off of an 88, Super 88 or 880 will also fit as well as a 770 or Super 77 unit. More questions?
