If the serial # begins with a DP it probably a 570 Super. I have a 570 super DP1265D and it has a red belly and harvest gold clothes.
Also, not all 570's had four numbers in the serial #. I have a 570 DO12536D, which is a 1960, and no one to date has been able to shed any light on what the 5th. digit stands for. It did have extra long axels, which were chewed off by some clown with a torch years ago. I agree that the 570 super or just plain 570 with a 298 hercules is one fine tractor.

All the 500 series tractors have a starting serial number that has 4 digits.

what idont understand is the 1961's start with dp 100 this # is dp 1790 that means it was the 1690th one made i was told there was 1680 made in the 2 years produced this would be 10 over that and that would be none built in 62. the 62s first number is dr 1001. was 900 built in 61.

You are missing a Zero. They start with 1000 or 1001

O. K. Did you read the answer to your other post on this page? First D is for 570 series, P is for the year (1961) 1790 is the serial number, D after that, it is a diesel which is the only way it came. Did you look at the tag on the engine? It should be a Hercules DD339 H code engine. Now what don't I understand? Happy New Year! J.

It is a 570 Super of 1961 vintage. Best of the Cockshutt's and of any tractor of that era in my opinion. It coupled a very rugged drive train with a Hercules 339 Cubic Inch engine with the H designation which meant heavy crankshaft and bearings. The regular 570 was tested at 63 hp. the 570 Super had about 14% more displacement and probably would have tested at about 70 hp if it was tested at Nebraska. I have one with many hours on in and it is my favorite out of 7 Cockshutts. Only drawback is the parts for Hercules are expensive. Fortunately, if you look after it at all, it will last a long time.
I have reproduction 3 pnt hitch parts and pto shields for a 570 and other Cockshutts if you need them.
