Let me start off by saying I've got all the heart to be an Ace Tractor Mechanic, just none of the head! I've got a mag ignition 70 Orchard that I'd like to switch over to distributor. I've got a distributor off of a parts tractor.

How difficult is this to get timed? Anything to make sure I'm doing? Comments, advice? Thanks!

Hope everyone has a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2007!

Are they both 3 or 5 gear engines? Do you just have the distributor or do you also have the right angle drive for the distributor? Timing is no problem. Get it on #1 TDC compression stroke before yout take the mag off and when you put your distributor in the drive get it so the points just start to open for #1. Remember the timing marks on the flywheel will not be good for the distributor. More Questions? Happy New Year to people across the bigger puddle(Lake Erie). Did you get a lot of rain last night? J/

Both are 3 gear engines - the tractor however is a KD, distributor came from a gas. I don't know that makes a difference? I do have the whole set up with the right angle drive.

Many thanks for the help!! Sure appreciated. Don't know about rain around the lake, I'm in central Illinois and we got some! Thanks John for all your help on this board. I read it all!
