Looking at a Cockshutt 540 here that I'm considering however I suspect there is a problem in the tranny somewhere, maybe further back. Now I know that the engine is a Continental 162 and there are a lot of parts for those almost anywhere but what about the rest of the tractor? Especially the transmission, differential, etc? Is a guy pretty much left with finding a parts tractor or is there any stuff in the aftermarket for the 540 Cockshutt? Any leads or parts sources (if any) would be appreciated.

I have a couple parts tractors as well as some other parts, let me know what you find and I may be able to help. I sometimes do get some new/old stock or cross over parts. I also have some reproduction parts and have many contacts for stuff. again email with your needs and I may be able to help. I'm in western Pa, not sure were your at but I am in Ontario a bit as well as other places.

Thanks for the information Irv. My email address at work is [email protected] so if you email me then I will know your email and when I get this thing apart, I'll know what I need. I suspect something is broken or jamming inside there somewhere, the gearshift lever cannot be moved right now.
