Also john deere seed plates can be used if you have b series hoppers.Plates are opened center type and thicknesses between 16/64 and 22/64.Thinner plates can be used but you need filler plates with them.I have a reference listing of JD plates that can be used in the B hoppers(246689b)if anyone needs to know.(even for beets and milo or garbanzo):}

Guess they made a model 543 starting in 1969.Was made in four six and eight rows and was pull type.Used different seed hoppers,one for plastic plates one for steel,one for corn and cotton,another for beet.Could be set up to minimun till.Room for aux 3"toolbar on extended tongue.Also could be ordered with fertilizer auger for $229.00 for the 4 row.Fluted colters ran $281.50(list prices)

One toolbar was called 3600.I am guessing you know what a toolbar is(but if not long or short bar that different equipment could be attached to and hooked up to the tractors three point)A number that comes up is 340.Row spacing up to 8-28 or30"mounted on a 250"toolbar, (toolbars were made from 169"up to336") .With a hydraulic lift option on the marker.Could also run 7?8 or9 36" to 40"and 12 30" rows.Planter units could be driven from gage or press wheel and oliver claimed could plant any seed.Also offered subsoiler openers(early no till?)Could also have a chisel point for the fertilizer.My question is what good is a seven row planter?

Number 540 seems most popular.I have only seen pull types in four row starting to wonder if they even made a pull type larger.I know oliver made larger ones for the toolbar(again oliver ahead of its time).But biggest problem was they were a plate planter,anyfool in his right mind would not want a plate planter in mop.Also know you can buy um cheap all you have to do is out bid the scrap man.I plan on getting one to play with and paint up.
