Evening all,
Got hold of an 1800 C gas tractor. The exhaust stack is loose in the exhaust manifold. Looks as if the stack threads into the manifold. Anyone have success renewing the threads in the manifold? Maybe another fix someone has used or seen? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanx,
Pete

Hoosier Pete I am repairing the manifold on my 1800C
at this time. The manifold that I am working
on has 2 studs sticking up on each side of
the muffler hole. I took a small block of
steel [flat bar] 3/4 thick, milled it nice
and flat, bored hole in middle, welded pipe
coupling on. This will be held down by the
2 studs. As far as I can see at this point
it should work good.

The piece that screws into the Ex manifold is just a piece of pipe w/pipe threads. Go to your local plumber, he should have a pipe tap that can clean out the threads and supply you with a new piece of pipe.

By the way, if you get a new piece of pipe, use black, not galvanized. Fumes from heated galvanized pipe are hazardous to breathe....
