OC4 question

Well I got the OC4 home last weekend and got to spend some time on it today. Fixed a leaking fuel pump, changed the oil and filter and adjusted the governor. Runs like a top. Bought some new button head zerk fittings and when I pulled the first one out of a roller I found grease not oil. Changed all the fitting on the rollers, idlers and drive sprockets and found grease in all of them. The grease doesn't look old, like it's been greased in the not to distant past, but how does this effect everything. Have I got some serious problems going on here?

Actually I"m only going to use it this winter to plow snow. This machine spent its entire life as a snowplow for a city nearby or plowing my dads driveway. I plan to restore the machine and had someone in the heavy equipement service business look at the machine. The tractor only has 1800 hours on it and he told me the UC looks lke the day it was made so I thought that would mean a little less work. Oh well...guess not

Are you a farmer? Are you in farm country? What are you going to do with the crawler? Technoligy moves on and if I was not going to use it in cooler weather I would try some John Deere corn head grease. To me it is not oil or grease. J.

The rollers have bushings that run in oil and the grease will not lube them. The rollers will have to come off and be taken apart cleaned and resealed.
