Hello! I read your comment: "shoulda put a Cummins in there" instead of the 585 Moline. Well...speaking as someone who's "been there...done that..." it is no picnic putting a Cummins in a Moline! I installed a 6CT8.3 into a very nice, very clean White 2-150 back in 1996. It was a LOT of work...and WAY TOO MUCH power for a single plate, 14 inch clutch. But...the customer is always right, so I built the beast anyway. It ran great, but at full load...you could slip the clutch in a hard pull. The "easy" way would have been to install a front frame off of an Oliver, and then re-power it. The 585 is a real horse...if it is put together correctly. I am anxious to see your "before" and "after" pictures! Christmas Blessings!

Thanks for the comments Merlin, I figured you had done something like that. We looked long and hard at putting an 8.3 in that tractor, but decided agenst it for the reasons you just stated. We either had to use a 2255 front frame and change all the sheet metal (which I did not want to do) or try to fab up some different engine rails that could hold the Cummins engine and hope the bolt holes did not break out.

The real problem is that I tried to overhaul the engine myself and ended up with mistakes twice that locked the engine up. Now I got a professional involved and it is almost back togeather again and I hope to have it running in a few weeks if we can get this oil pump issue figured out.

I really like this 585 engine and that is one reason we decided to keep it, but it has fought us pretty hard trying to get it overhauled. I will get some pictures put togeather as soon as it gets finished.
