Hi guys

My 1935 18-27 has no small fuel tank and no brackets or obvious mounting holes for one. This leads me to believe it never had one. But the manifold has the heat on/heat off lettering on it. I figured the heat on setting was for the choice of burning kerosene. And if that is true wouldn't it need to be started on gas then switched to kerosene? Can some one fill me in?

Thanks guys.

I will try and get over there and get a better look this week. I see now in this photo there is 3 holes under the tank but it would need to be a fairly long bracket and I would think easily crack because they are a ways under the tank

I do not intend to burn kero but if it originally had the small tank I want to put one back on it so it at least appears the way it was when new.

Steve,

By this time it could have anything fitted in that engine. Larger sleeves and pistons, I"m meaning. However, if it is a KD model it will have a KD designation on the serial plate. If not prolly has the high compresion head. If it has the bigger sleeves fitted and a high compression head it wouldn"t like kero one little bit!!

I have a Oliver 80 with a KD engine also but only one fuel tank. Where would a second one go? if they had two would one of them had been taken off?

Jeff,
Not sure of your question. The answer would seem to be yes if there were two tanks and there is now only one. Oliver fitted an extra one-US gallon tank, as part of the KD option, along with bigger sleeves and pistons, lower compression head and the heat-adjustable exhaust manifold (this may have been fitted to all later tractors, I don"t know) and different inlet manifold. The carbs were different (TTX 18 and 19) and the heat shields (? - fitted to the 90s) in the inlet manifold may only have been fitted to the KDs. Different grade of plugs, maybe a different timing advance and away they went. Can"t think of any other changes.

They are on the rear of the big tank just left of the steering column. They are abour a foot tall and about 5 inches in diameter. This is only a guess because I have only seen photos.

Thanks for the picture. I'll look and see if there is a bracket or something where that small tank would have been mounted. All I knew was that there was only one tank on it now.

Thanks!

Measure your gas tank once: Height length & width. First guess does it have an 80 gas tank?

Ok the tank is 16 7/8 long 20 1/4 wide and at the tallest point 10 1/4 tall. I cound not see any signs of another line on the sediment bowl. I did find 3 holes in a bracket under the tank.

That seem on top of the tank looks a little odd to me but it may be the way they were
