I installed a new Mallory dist w/ Electronic Ign 2 yrs ago. Last week tractor was running just fine while feeding cattle it died, have been unable to start since, changed coil, removed resitor, but spark seems to be weak coil wire good cranking voltage, was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with elect. ign. This is a Petronix brand. Thanks in advance Johnnie

I get a spark when I cycle the switch off, but it seems weak and yellow, sometimes it is a spark while I am cranking then nothing. what concerns me is when I compare it to my 770 spark that has reguilar points system, the 770 has a big blue spark and continus the elect ign. seems weak. Thanks Johnnie

Johnnie,I'm the guy that sent Allan in NE over here. He's had the same problem on his Farmall(his flavor)with Pertronix ign.
Post him on the "tractor talk" board on top of the forum list page and title it"Att'n Allan in NE".He's a regular over there.~brad

Hi Johnnie,

Bradk from the Tractor board sent me overhere.

Tell ya right up front that closest I've ever been to an Oliver was is 1954 and that was looking out the school bus window. :>)

Are you getting any spark at all? Sparking, but just yellow and weak? Sparks once and then won't spark again until you cycle the ignition switch?

Allan
