Hello! With all the ice, snow and downed power lines here, I am just another "armchair mechanic" with too much time to daydream! I saw ice buildup in Mount Olive, Illinois today like I have NEVER seen...in Minnesota or anywhere else! It got me to thinking...could a set of controls, i.e. steering wheel, clutch and brakes be installed (along with a "flip seat") in a 4-150, 4-180 or 4-210 to make it "bi-directional" for a mounted snow blower? I always got such a sore neck blowing snow with our beautiful 1950-T. The older White 4WD's can be purchased for reasonable money. With their great handling, the Cat 3208, and good visibility...I thought "turning one around" would make an awesome snow blower! Perhaps even dismounting the entire cab and mounting it 180 degrees "backward". Has anyone ever done this? What are your thoughts? Stay warm...and be careful out there on the ice!

Interesting idea, whether you use it to blow snow or make a dozer mounted on the 3pt, sounds like a great idea. We have a 4-150 we use to farm with and later just used on the feed wagon in the feedlots, it needs some transmission work now but if we pull that cab off putting it on the other way is definatly food for thought. front frames on those tractors are too light and long and low to mount a loader or dozer but if you reversed it I think a dozer could be mounted on that end with its heavy 3pt, now you got me thinking too, maybe next winter, if you get this done be sure and post a picture, sounds like it would work.

Thanks for the input! The problem with a front-mount blower is the gearboxes and PTO shafts (which would have to bend in correspondence to the articulation joint). The Erskine Company in Erskine, MN makes a very good front mount blower, but they are a bit expensive. I thought a 4-210 would work great: just lengthen and re-connect the hydraulic steering and brake hoses to match the "reverse" operations. Now...to find a "bargain priced" 4-210!

If your steering is all hydraulic then once you turned it around all you should have to do is reverse the hoses either on the pump or the steering box to make it turn the right way. Same for the brakes.

If you turn the cab around backwards when you turn the steering wheel to the left the tractor would go right! Probably be a pretty big job to pull off but if you did it would be great. I would make a bracket and put it on the front and raise it an lower it with hydraulic cylinders. Blower could even have a set of swivel castor wheels to hold most of it up like the front of a zero radius mower. Good luck.

How about coming up with a front mount for the thrower instead? I'd be up for that! Cal
