First of all how much free travel do you have? How much wear in the linkage. Is it gas or diesel? Do you have the idle speed adjusted properly? It could also have a bad pilot bearing/ Start there and get back with us. Questions? J.

1) There is 1/2" of free travel on the pedal.
2) There is minumum wear in the linkage.
3) Gas
4) I have nio idea what the tractor is idling ar (I am also looking for a replacment tach cable) but I have it throtled down when attempting to shift.
5) I guess that leaves the pilot pearing as the only logical explanation?

The tractor transmission is not designed to be shifted while moving, place in the gear you want to use and leave it there.

The grinding is when the tractor is stationary. I am aware that the tractor cannot be shifted on the move.
