Will an 88 handle a 4 row planter like a 5100 White, JD 7000, or IH 800? I figure hydraulics to be bigger limit than power. I know the air planters would require the pto powered pump. I would like to have liquid fertilizer. Anybody out there got any experience?

Are you on flatland or hills? I pull a 4 row 5100 no till with a worn out JD70. On really steep hills, I have to shift to 2nd, but most of the time I run in 3rd. Had a friend who pulled a 6 row Maxi Emerge with a wd45. When I was a kid, neighbor pulled a 694 Deere with a 88. Once years ago, I pulled a 8 row 1290 Jd with a 880 in river bottoms. you need decent tires and maybe some weight, should handle a 4 or 6 row no problem. Chris

We used to pull a JD 494,dry fert. with an 88 gasser with no problem.
The 5100 and 7000 are heavier, but an 88 will pull them as long as no bigger than a 4 row and tractor hydraulic pump is good.~brad
