Super 55 Ext Hydraulics questions

Hey guys (& gals). I'm seriously considering selling the remote hydraulic control valve from my Super 55 since I don't currently use it and I have a buyer. My question is what some of you use them for on your 55s. I'd hate to get rid of it and find something I could do down the road and have to go through the process of tracking one down again.

My 55 is set up with a front-end loader, and I primarily use the tractor for finish mower and bushog mowing as well as moving some dirt around. I currently can't see a use for the auxiliary hydraulics, but is there something that they are commonly used for?

The only implements I can think of that may require aux. hydraulics would be a wood splitter (which I have already w/ a separate motor & pump), a sickle bar mower with hydraulic lift (which I don't own or will probably never use my 55 to cut hay), and a large disk or plow that requires a cylinder to lower and raise.

I own about 20 acres and only plan on regular maintenance of the land and planting a small garden. Can any of you think of any reason why I should keep the valve other than to add value to my tractor?

Thanks in advance,
Justin

I have the same situation, I may never use my ext. hydraulics, but im not willing to part from them. They are a valuable option for the tractor,if I need them I"ll have them. They will help fetch a little more from the tractor if you decided to sell it. As far as the drawbar if its the one that was on E-Bay it probably aint worth so much. Maybe for a little use but restoration they want an all original drawbar. I have heard of the external hydraulic block fetching 200 to 300 dollars working. And the drawbar you had there, looks like it needs some pieces, I would give no more that 50 to 75 dollars for it. The drawbars that fetched 300 to 400 were all complete original with the mounting hardware and the bar. As far as your factory hydraulics running a splitter it would be pretty weak with a 5 gpm pump.

Thanks Mike! Yes, I could use the cash, and to be honest, I don't do a whole lot of "farming" and the only thing listed that seems appealing (but not necessary) is the hydraulic top link.

I guess what I'm thinking is that I'd probably need a larger tractor to perform the work that some of these implements do, so having external hydraulics on a utility tractor is more of a luxury than a necessity.

Thanks,
Justin

I agree with Mike, I would not sell. Makes tractors valve more and could become very handy. If you decide to put it on Ebay so we all can have a chance.

If I do decide, what would be a fair price for the valve and an incomplete & modified drawbar assembly (everything minus the drawbar, angle braces are modified from another Oliver tractor series)? I've done business with the potential buyer before without complaints, so I doubt he's out to rip me off, but I still like to be in the know.

Thanks,
Justin
