Well after looking at many different tractors, many different colors, many different prices, and looking for two months to replace my 1855 while letting all my hay sit out in the field, I just bought a 1977 2-105 from an Agco dealer. They had it out on rent so I watched it grind shelled corn and talked to the guys that were using it. Sounded good, looks decent. It had a fuel leak from a line above the inj. pump, a hydraulic leak in the rear, and the pto did not shut all the way off. Those were the only problems I saw. No smoke, idled when cold at 45 psi if the gauge is accurate, and around a little over 4000 hours if that is correct, supposed to be. They said they would fix the leaks and adjust the pto brake. I never heard another one run, it sounded "meaner" than my 1855. Anything I need to know? I read through the forums, lots of info, just wanted to post something. I am familiar with the 1855. Tractor is supposed to get here next week. Hope that Perkins holds out.

Is there a good place to go for general information, oil capacities, etc.? Also how much will the 3 point lift compared to other tractors that age (just curious, say compared to IH/Deere of the same size). What is the best brand/type of hydraulic oil to put in? Also the rearend type and quantity? I know what I used in the 1855, just guessed on amounts though, want to do it right from the "start". I"m going to change what they don"t after it gets here.

I have my 1855 here yet, engine needs taken apart (lots of water in oil, not oil cooler), there is a loud grinding noise that shakes the tractor under load in the rear end, kind of a slight dead space going from reverse to forward too, and the seal is out again that lets hyd. oil into the rear end, leaks very fast. Loved the tractor but wanted something slightly different, don"t have the time to mess with it. What will fit for parts on the other one. I am told the rear is pretty much the same. The hyd. valves look like they should work, as does the pump (low hours, not a Vickers pump, supposed to be more reliable, flow is a couple gpm more than stock). Anything else I should know about? Thanks for all the answers and suggestions I have received previously.

How much fuel does it hold? It has the tank on the side, I don"t know if that is standard.

cost too much I suppose
New paint
new interior
new air conditioning/compressor
cat III hitch

Sometimes, I am unable to view the pictures. This is one of them. Could you run through how to view this picture? Thanks.

I just had the photo from when it was sold, I took it down. I will post new ones in a day or two, it is supposed to be coming today, so I can take my own. They should just display in the message without you having to do anything after I put them back up.

looks nice and clean, if they fixed what you said, I think you did good! We have a 110, spent 750 on a new interior, 275 on recharging air, 900 on injection pump, 250 on hood and side panel repaint including decals, facing 1500 for thrust bearing replacement, (new crankshaft, God forbid), And guess what, we have a 1975 105 that has been an excellent tractor! So maybe count your blessings!! Good luck as always!!!

Nice one, Like to find the guy who painted it we have got two of them and they could use a paint job. Looks Sharp. Ours are both 1979 models. The only thing about the older ones was the AC I hope they put the new style on. The old ones had lots of electric blowers behind the cab that gave trouble. I have a book on ours I can look up the capacities some time. The I T manual for them has been really helpful over the years. Good Luck I'm in NE Kansas.

Also I don't know what they did to the air conditioner, it was switched over to 134, but I don't know what all they changed. I've never had air before in a tractor so that actually wasn't a major thing for me to check out, although there were a couple days this year in the hayfield when it was about 110 that I actually thought about having it. I guess I've never had a heater that worked at all in one either, if the tractor will actually run..., I might get spoiled this winter haying cows....

Thanks all. Name a town you're near. I can tell you how far away you are from them, email the dealer's number if interested, if you'd want to haul them a distance. The dealer is a distance from Kansas but in SE NE sort of. The dealer knows a guy that does it for them, I don't know if he paints any body's tractor or just theirs or how much it costs, but the dealer seems easy to deal with, I don't think he'd mind telling you. I'd like to look it over at home better first, maybe next week if they get it done, make sure everything he said is the way it actually is, try it out, etc. Won't know anything else until then. I can take my own pictures of it then too. When I looked at it it was damp and dusty, but still looked decent.

There really isn't many differences from the 1855's, other than the engine, the way the over/under is connected to the transmission, and the color. I don't know off hand any of the capacities, but you can get the manuals you need form the same dealer, or watch ebay. I see 2-105 manuals quite often on there. The extra tank on the side would be factory.

Over all, that looks like a pretty good one. We rented one a fw years back when our 1755 lost the clutch, but we didn't use it much because it was too much for our 1-row chopper, and we didn't have a 1000 rpm shaft to run a different one the neighbors gave us yet. We had them put one in the 1755 while they had it. I was nice, I just didn't like the small cab. Sure was pretty quite though.
