What color was the tail wheel on a 565 plow painted at the factory? Now that I know I have a 565 plow and not a 566 I would like to restore it. I am assuming the entire plow was Meadow Green except for the frogs on the bottoms, they were most likely black, am I correct?

I just saw a manual for a 565 come up on ebay if you don't have one already.

Yup, the wheel is white, the rest is green. For the moldboards and such where it wears off, black is fine. After you're done for the seaso0n, use whatever cheap spray paint you've got laying around. It scours off quickly the next time and lasts longer than covering the bottoms with grease or oil.

Hey Don, thanks for the info. I have a manual already. I have been using some paint called scour gard or something like that. It's sold at Fleet Farm. Protected nicely and scours off really well.

My personal opinion, is that it just aint worth the extra money. Regular black spray paint holds up just fine. I painted our 565 about 2-3 years ago, whenever it was used last and the paint is still on there. It's starting to rust very slightly where I didn't put it on thick enough.

As long as the metal is clean and shiney, plain old cheap stuff will work just as good.

Just my opinion

I had a 565. Everything was green except for the tail wheel and guage wheel.

My memory tells me that the wheels on that series of plows were Clover white, same as on the 4 digit tractors.
