I've been looking for a canopy for my 1655 for a while, and gave up. I found a guy that had one, and he allowed me to photograph and measure it, as well as borrow another he had in pieces. I showed them to a local fab shop, and they looked at it a second and said it would probably be around $1000. I said to go ahead and make one for me. While they were building it I bought decals, and automotive paint for it. (around $350). I picked up the canopy friday, and the bill was $2200! I was angry, and talked to him about the original estimate, and he reduced it to $1850. I've dealt with him a lot, and hes always treated me well, so I couldnt stick him with it, and paid the $1850. So, for $2200 I have a canopy for my 1655. On the plus side, they did an outstanding job making it, I'd say its 95% or better. But still way way too expensive for a work tractor, if I would have known the final cost, I'd be getting a sun tan.

Sounds like my experiences lately. Took 3 rims to machine shop to get blasted and one patched. The guy says he'll have it done in a week. Two weeks later I stopped to check on them and they were still lieing where I left them. I didn't say a word to anybody, I just picked them up and went on my way. At another machine shop I dropped off a manifold to get planed. Machinist says he'll have it done tomorrow afternoon. I stop by three days later and it's still sitting where I left it. Both are reputable shops and I am a repeat customer. Why do business' say one thing and then not stand behind their word?

This time of year, its probably a matter of priorities. I'm assuming your projects are "hobby" or restoration stuff- no particular time crunch. Along comes a guy with combine broke down in the middle of corn harvest- gotta get him going again, its his livelihood. Your project gets set back. I'm in a similar type of business, and I try to explain the problem to people whose work isn't done on time- most understand, but some take their stuff and go. Guess that helps even out the workload, but I hate to lose a customer.

Post some pictures of it when you get it painted and mounted. At least you should show it off a little...make that investment hurt a little less.

This is my first photo posting attempt. The uprights aren't painted yet, but once they are done I'll post some pictures of them.

Well that didn't work like I planned. I posted it in the tractor photos section.

Yes that price for your health is not that much. When you will be driving this thing in the summer sun, you will be glad you did get it, it does make a tractor a whole lot different to work on.

not that it helps much at this point but if it keeps you from getting melanoma (skin cancer) which is very prevalent these days it was money well spent and your kids and grandkids will thank you for it later..my dad is dying now of brain cancer that stemmed from somewhere else at the age of 65 and i would gladly pay $2200 for that to disappear...take care

Yes thats costly, but they do work. I had a tree fall on mine when it was on the 1950t. Allso i had a tractor climb into the one on the 1600 when i was sitting in the seat.Savd me from being smashed.
