A couple years back the Cockshutt Quarterly printed a leter from Cockshutt management to Hercules engine Mfg. for an order for engines and it showed a request for 72 hp.

The super was not tested at Nebraska. The regular 570 was with 63.66 corrected belt horsepower. One would suspect it would be about 70 by ratioing up the displacement I get 72 hp.
The Super was one of the best tractors ever made. It had the H series engine with the heavier crankshaft than the old 570. The 560 and 570 had an even better drivetrain than the old 35-50. It had a good power to weight ratio with the standard tires loaded with one or 2 wheel weights.
The 500 series tested at Nebrasks made a very good showing for traction (550 pulled more than a 40 or 50 with less weight and less power) and fuel economy for the 560.
I may be a little biased as I have a 1962 Super which has been in the family since 1978. It has 7500 hrs showing on the meter with considerable use when the gauge was not working.
