Can someone tell me what the current filters would be for the Hydraulic system on my 1963 550? The manual calls for the oil filter number 100 476-AS and the breather element filter number of 104 792-A. I can't find any cross refernce to these numbers and my local TSC wasn't able to help me. Also, the manual states that the hydraulic fluid to be used is SAE 30 Engine oil with an oil additive. I know that there has been discussion about this, but I am looking for and exact answer...should I use a straight 30 weight oil? Or should/can I use hydraulic oil? Thanks in advance.

MT

AGCO is the only place to get a hydraulic filter for the 550. No one else makes one for it. I have been using the Oliver Type 55 oil for several years now. Just make sure you use one with a sulphur compound to provide a cushion between the gears.

I have used Oliver type 55, or a good grade of Hydraulic fluid for about the last 30 years in my Oliver 550. I also can still get the Hydraulic filter from Agco 100476A is their number.

I think that breather part number has been superceeded by a paper element type. API 10W-30 motor oil will work just fine as Oliver fan mentioned. That additive has been opsolet for 30 plus years. More questions? J.

I have no idea what those numbers cross to at TSC.

As to oil, I use the same as I use in the engine (10W-30). That way I don't need to keep two different oils in stock, and it works O.K.
