Can anyone help me with a schematic (flow diagram) of the hydraulic system for a 550 Oliver? My lift will not work at all and so far, I cannot find an obvious problem.

If you don"t want the remote valve, put it on ebay and make $350. Easy money. The cover plate for no remote option should be easy to find. Make sure you get the correct year plate. They did change the hole locations after serial #47000 or so.

The first 550 I ever worked on 45 years ago was on a demonstration and it was a plowing demonstration. It had been doing great but on the end it would not lift. The dealer picked up the tractor up. I also though the problem was internal, wrong guess. We had the little cover that is removed when you install the remote valve as a service tool. Took the valve off , put the cover on and a plug in started the tractor and the lift arms came right up. If you unhook one of the coupler start it and see if you have flow, I suspect a contamination problem with the relief valve in the remote valve. Questions? J.

Do you know where I can find the plate cover that came on the unit without external remote control valve?? I never use the remote valve anyway and can eliminate the possibility of that problem.----Randy

I am surprised nobody gave you a reply. People are looking for remote valves and I am sure they would be happy to take it off your hands. There is a man in Texas that posts on here that has used 550 parts. I am sure you can scroll back or someone will post his name and phone number. In the meantime have you hooked a hose to that little plug and stuck it in a clean container to see and varify that the pump is pumping? If it is the are you want to check is the small spool with the hex head. Be very carefull and take the hex nut off and see if there is a small piece of contamination holding that ball from seating properly. Lay all the parts out on clean paper towels, Questions? J.

the pump flows directly into the switching valve in front of the seat. pulled up, it controls flow to 3-pt. hitch--down the valve controls flow to the remotes, whether for front loader or normal cyl. hydraulics for disc or what ever.
disconnect hyd. hose at valve, and run tractor, with a pressure gage attached to that port.
i suspect that the shaft on your pump sheered off and you may have absolutely no pressure. "or"
the tube attached to your pump under the hyd. cover the seat is bolted to may be cracked, allowing oil to bypass the flow, valve an is "pissing" back into the resevoire

It has a valve that controls any remote equipment

Does it have an external valve? Makes no difference if you were using the remote cylinder or not.
