Here is a list of fuel efficiency tests from Nebraska. The Cockshutt 560 is rated quite well. Note that in the gasoline list there are two Olivers that were also branded as Cockshutts in Canada after 1962.
Top Ten Fuel Economy Scores, NU Tests 1920~1970.
Gas
Caterp D-6 13.72
Caterp D-2 13.66
Oliver 1800 13.18
AC D-10 13.05
Farmall 706 13.86
IH 660 12.76
AC D-10 12.74
Case 841 12.73
Farmall 806 12.58
Oliver 550 12.54

Diesel
JD 720/730 17.97
MF 150 17.83
John Deere 70 17.74
Cockshutt 560 17.73
Case 1470 17.7
John Deere 80 17.58
John Deere R 17.35
JD 820/830 17.28
MF-135 17.04
Case 470 16.93

The 500 series of Cockshutts are highly regarded for their sturdy back halves. I have read articles from diehard pullers who like using Cockshutts for their modifieds, because they can simply upgrade the motor and the rest of the tractor can handle whatever horsepower they throw at it.

I currently have the 550 and the 540 and would like to eventually complete the lineup.
Email me if you have questions
Good luck

The Canadian Cockshutt built 550 and the US built Oliver 550 are totally different tractors the confusion is after Oliver bought Cockshutt they put Cockshutt 550 decals after painting them the Cockshutt colors on the Oliver built 550 and sold them in Canada.I have a Cockshutt 1650 which is an Oliver built tractor with Cockshutt Emblem, decals and paint

After Cockshutt-built tractors were discontinued, Oliver-built tractors were painted to Cockshutt colors for the Cockshutt Company. Hence the Cockshutt 550 that looks like (because it is) a clone of the Oliver 550 and very different from the ('58-'62) Cockshutt-built 550.

I thought Oliver made a 550. Would this not be a similar tractor?
