I have always been an Allis Chalmers man. I recently found a diesel 560 for sale. I really like the tractor. It is a very well maintained good running tractor. I can’t seem to find any new, used or after market parts for this tractor. Is this tractor not good to buy, because of poor parts availability? Do parts from other Cockshutt or non Cockshutt tractors parts fit? I have a buddy with a D19 Allis engine in a model 40. I noticed Massey used a lot of Perkins engines. Will a Massey Perkins, Buda, or Hercules fit into this tractor? I here of people saying the Perkins was a poorly built engine. What about hydraulics, transmission, front ends, brakes, sheet metal, power steering? I am Cockshutt stupid and could really use some help.

A 262 with turbo out of a D19 or C Gleaner would be a good engine in a 560 frame. You need the back
adapter plate, clutch, flywheel, and front mounts out of a Cockshutt 40 or 50 to make it work plus the radiator will have the outlets changed for the Buda style engine.I think the 301 AC engine would be able to use the same adapter plate.Throttle linkages amd such would have to be made up.The 298 and 339 hercules were used in a lotof industrial applications as well as military. No other farm tractor used that engine the 550 Cockshutt used the 4 cyl version.

An AC 6060, 6070, or 6080, 200 CI turbo (about 70 HP stock) will also bolt onto the Buda bolt pattern. This in a reliable and fuel-
efficient engine. A lot of them were turned up over 100HP and they were made until 1985. Some combines that are being junked used this engine. The engine is short and would give a person a lot of room to work with in the front. The pump would be easy to hook up a throttle to as well. The 200 is a 301 with two less cylinders. It has the same pistons, sleeves and stroke. The 301 were used in the 190, 180, 185, 200, 7000, 7010, 7020, 8010, and many combines.

The 560 and 570 are the same tractor except for the engine with the 570 having a Hercules I like the Hercules better and updated parts and complete engines are available. The Perkins in the 560 and the ones in the Masseys have very little in common.Cockshutt hydraulics are fair and the Power steering can be a problem but they are tough tractors. The Buda will fit the 560 if you have the adapter parts from a 40 or 50 Cockshutt. Like always it depends on what the price is of course.

I have a brother that has an Allis Chalmers salvage yard. 230 and 262 Allis gas Buda engines are easy for me to come by. I have a friend that has two 40 cockshots with a mix and match of allis-
cockshutt Buda engines. This 560 runs well the way it is now. In case of future problems what conversion parts would I need to put an Allis 230 in the 560? Is the 560 simular to the 40 and 50 cockshuts? What types of parts are interchangable from the 40, 50, 570 and the 560? Are their any other tractors that have easier to find Herculese engines? What would I need to swap them out?

Thanks
