I have a friend who has an Oliver 770. The power booster jumps out of low gear when pulling. I don't know a lot about Olivers. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is Worn or broken or anything I should check before disassembling ? Thanks for any help.

The easy answer is to say the sprang clutch needs replacing. Even the manual says that. Here is something to do before you replace the sprang clutch. Take the cover off the power booster drive. You will see were the clutch slides on the shaft. Clean that shaft off very well. Then put a very thin coat of motor oil on that shaft , so that the clutch slides easily on the shaft. That may be all the problem. It was with my 770. I do this once a year. Problem never comes back.

The sprag clutch is faulty in the low range. Needs to be dismantled and replaced.
