Front weights for 77RC?

I recently bought a 77 Row Crop with an aftermarket 3-point hitch. I just started doing some plowing with a 16" 2-bottom plow. For the most part, it works really well. It has plenty of power and traction to move right along. There's fluid in the rear tires. (I found this out the hard way. I unbolted one from the hub so I could get at the rusted u-bolts easier. I expected to balance it as it came off. Instead, it dropped with a ground-shuddering "thud", followed by an ominous "slush-slush-slosh" sound. I think it's the first time my daughter's ever seen a grown man cry.) Anyway, back to my problem. It's really hard to keep straight, because there's hardly any weight on the front tires. Did they make front weights for this? I'll probably end up cobbling something together from whatever I can find at an auction. Which would be better suitcase, or wheel weights? How would I mount the suitcase ones? I don't think I've ever seen a bracket or front bumper for one. How do wheel weights mount? There's no extra holes in the wheels, and I'd hate to start punching some in. How about trying to hang something from the (cultivator mounting?) hole in the frame beneath the motor, or is that too far back to be effective? Any other ideas?

Oliver made cast front wheel weights, they carried a H part number which means they were made orginally for the model 60. They attached to the front wheel with a "J" hook, thus do not need holes in the wheels. I have a set hanging on the back of my Oliver 145 Garden tractor to balance the snow blower. You could also order the tractor with cast center front wheels with demountable rims. Oliver also made a cast front basic weight and stack weights for the 77. All are almost impossible to find with the exception of the cast center front wheel.

I agree with Highboy. A drawbar pull trailer plow would be better. But a properly adjusted plow will pull straight. I would be looking at the plow and not the front weights.

well you could always buy a two bottom pull plow.Or you could weld up a plate to fit the front holes in the frame that are for the cultivator bracket.then buy some oliver flat weights and bolt them to your bracket.Good luck if it was me I would use a pull plow but to each their own:}
