I have an Oliver 60 engine in my Hg crawler and the other day the clutch rod came loose and the part that holds/pushes the throw out bearing droped down. Well I pulled the bellhouseing today back enough to I thought to get things lined back up. But when I put if back togeather I could only push the clutch pedel down maybe and inch. So what might be wrong and how do I fix it?? I plan to pull the bellhouseing back off tomorrow but sure would like some ideas as to what might be wrong so I'm not going in blind. Thanks

Staight acrossed from where the clutch rod from the pedal goes into the bell housing there should be a cotter pin sticking out of the housing. That cotter pin holds the other end of the throw-out bearing holder in place. If that cotter pin wore out and the holder fell down, that end may now be out of postion which would make it so you can"t push the pedal down.

Well so far that has fixed the problem. I haven't put it to work to make 100% sure but I did start it and push the clutch pedal down and I can now put it in and out of gears. Thanks

Glad to help out. Hope that does it for you. I've got a 60 tore apart right now. Complete overhaul and new clutch. The cotter pin in mine was about ready to break also. Hope you never have to overhaul yours. The overhaul kit is pretty expensive.

When I picked up this engine it was locked up for just sitting. The guy I got it from said that it had been rebuilt a short time before he got it. It had been used as a power unit to run a saw mill till the EPA did thing to shut down a number of the small saw mills in my area. Thanks again. I drove it around yesterday. I think I still need a spring on the clutch return but I do something about that some other time
