I have an opportunity to pick up a Cockshutt 40. It's well weather worn. The metal is straight with no dents. Tagging still intact showing the '40', not a big pile of rust as it's dry here. Red and cream color. It has a front end loader. The lines are cracked and the rams are rusted. The bucket has been up for the past 10 years. This is when it was last parked. I know it's difficult but would anyone be able to tell me a ballpark value on this tractor? Thanks, Frank

Frank,
The tractor you're discribing sounds like one I bought back in Sep 2006 from Grand Junction Colorado. I spent $1000 for the tractor $500 to ship it, and six months restoring it. I'm in to it about $3500 in cash. I stripped off the junk loader, added four new tires and repainded it.
If it's the same tractor, you should see it now.

Mitch

In my Hotline book the prices for a Cockshutt 40 in fair condition run from $775 to $1900. Its sort of like this if you want it bad then its worth a lot more if you don't care if get it or not then its worth a lot less. When buying anything that is old its worth as much as two people are willing to bid on it.

Will need a lot more info to say what 40 would be worth, like does it run, condition of tires and rims, condition of sheet metal, power steering or not, motor condition,3pt hitch and other little things to decide what its worth.
