Power steering units were made for many tractors that were installed in the steering shaft. Farmalls was a big user, I think M&W Gear made some of them. As for the PTO, I had one on a 40 that worked fine after I removed it and just cleaned it up and unstuck all the plates. After you clean it up you can check to see if it (snaps in) before reinstalling, it should take a good pull to (snap it in)

Walt, if you need parts or help with this pto let me know. I have reproduction clutches at a resonable price. As others have said take it off and remove assembly from housing check for shims between bracket spacer and monting plate. they were assembled with .050 but some one may have removed them as it was worn. check clutches for seperation of facing or just plain worn out. you can email me if you need more info. Walt, if the pto on the 35 is anything like mine on the 40 and 50 you will have to take it off the tractor and check the shims in the clutch pack. That pto lever should lock into the engaged position. Its been a few years since I worked on one but I know we had to put the right number of shims underneath the over centre locking parts. Then re-assemble it to the tractor and try out the lever to see if it would lock into gear.
