I purchased an 80 parts tractor several years ago that had an automotive flywheel mounted on the belt pulley shaft, and a starter mounted on the top cover - fairly unsafe, but it appeared to have worked at one time. My 80 Row Crop also has a starter, but I have added an industrial frame - it is only for pulling, so I made an adapter to mount the front end - it looks nice, but is far from original.

No. Unless you want to fix up a drive for the power take off?
Generally they are no problem starting, excepting the handle is a bit at the wrong angle compared to the standards!
If you are having to pull it or start it with a belt, your impulse coupling may need some attention.
