I just purchased a old tractor in Minneapolis Moline paint and decals; When i got it home and started looking -?- the serial number seems to be 3A 165. Would this be a early model Cletrac GG. Would like to know make and year. Thanks for your help in advance. Chip B.

I believe the number you're giving us is the engine model number. The 165 engine was used by MM in the various models in the R series of tractors from 1939-1955 and then in the 335's from 1956-1961. If it's one of these, the tractor serial number plate should be on the right side of the transmission case.

Thanks for the info mowr. This number I came up with was stamped in the right frame rail at the transmission end; top. Not real sure if the 165 is correct but does start with a 3A. Tractor not complete but built like the Generals, single front wheel, three speed trans, hand brakes, and flat head engine.
