Hi Guys! I just wanted to post a first timer messagage and say hi! I bought my Oliver earlier this fall for making hay on our 10 acre field. I've made two cuttings with it, and so far it runs like a charm. It's an 1850 gas engine, and with the exception of the usual wear items (alternator, coil, distributor, etc) it appears to be 100% factory. I need to put a paint job on it this fall, as the hood and fenders are almost bare steel. A couple of dents on the hood need to be worked out, but the rest of the panels are in excellent condition. I think the governor also needs to be adjusted, as I can't get the engine up to full PTO RPM, it maxes out at about 1900, and drops to 1800 when pulling the NI Cut/Ditioner.

We've three 1850s in the family. one gas, three diesels. I like them if for no other reason if I were to choose one, they're simply easy to work on. And parts are easy to come by. Treat it kindly and it'll work for you.

PS: Me thinks you have one of the best of the best.

That should have read "earlier this spring", not "earlier this fall".

(Posts are not editable I assume?)

Picked this ole gal up over the 4th. Loader is a little rough but the rest of the tractor is in good shape. Needs a few minor things. Course it's not the same color as your 1850. Have fun, these old Olivers are some tought tractors.

Welcome, and nice rig there. I'm new too and don't know much about the PTO. It will really look good with new paint.
