WELL I TRIED FREE THE BLOCK USING SEVERAL METHODS BUT NO LUCK. TODAY I WENT OUT TO PULL THE BLOCK AND I NOTICED BETWEEN THE 2, 3 AND 4 CYLINDERS I HAVE HAIRLINE CRACKS. I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE BUT NOW THEY ARE VERY OBVIOUS. I MIGHT HAVE DONE IT WHEN I FILLED THE CYLINDERS UP WITH TRANNY FLUID AND GAS THEN LIT THEM. I AM GUESSING THAT THE SLEEVES EXPANDED AND SPLIT THE BLOCK AT THE THINEST POINT BETWEEN THE SLEEVES. SO BE WEARY OF THIS TECHNIQUE, NOT SURE THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED BUT I WOULDN'T TRY IT AGAIN.
ANYWAYS, I NEED A NEW BLOCK!!!! ANY HELP. I LIVE IN EAST CENTRAL INDIANA. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP. MY TRACTOR IS JUNK WITHOUT AN ENGINE. CHRIS 812-835-4011

I would guess that those cracks were there before you got it...
If they are only on the top deck, they are not a problem. My 88D has been fine for over 30 years that way.

From what I have heard on and off cracks at the top of the block are common on a lot of engines and don't hurt a thing. They also where probably there before you burned the tranny fluid and gas but you didn't see them till you either cleaned up that area or, when you burned the stuff it cleaned the area up for you.

For what you are going to do and I am guessing the cracks are in the top of the block, those cracks will not hurt a thing. Now if they are at the bottom of the block that is a different story. Questions, send me an e-mail. J.
