Hi All! The price of fuel just jumped again and I filled the Oliver up over the weekend to start the second cutting . Well on the 4th of July to mow 6 acres I used 1/2 tank of fuel ( about 17.5 gallons ) which I wasn't happy about but didn't think to hard about at the time . Last night I went out and hooked up the rake and noticed that it was empty which REALLY didn't make me very happy ( 15+ gallons of $2.94 a gallon fuel on the ground ) so with a little investigation I determined that I have a pinhole in the tank right next to the sump for the condensate drain . ( it's a diesel ) The temp patch is a toothpick stuck in the hole . I guess I'll have to drain it since I filled it to use it and take it to be boiled out and soldered . The good news is that the toothpick upped the acres per gallon a lot ! Raked the field yesterday and then flipped it and started bailing tonight and it hasn't moved off the full mark ! The danged hole was about the size of a small needle . Now if I can get through the bailing without breaking something else ... Take care ...Randy

Hey Randy, maybe you and I could be a volume discount by taking both our tanks in at the same time?!?!?!

Sounds like you had the same issue I have with my 1800. I'm taking my to Des Moines on Monday. What a pain in the rear.

Jim

Tom's Radiator shop in Jesup will fix radiators and he also boils all of my gas tanks and coats them. Spark

Isnt that the most disgusting thing? My cars tank would always leak above 3/4 tank, and I finally bit the bullet to fix it about 2 months ago....glad I did now with this gas continuing to rise:)

Hi Jeff , Yeah , it's one of those high fallutin' colored cocktail toothpicks ;')> I have heard that Ivory bar soap works good but that's on gas tanks , I don't know about diesel but it's worth a shot I think till I can get this fixed . I don't have a shop on my place so repair's are done at work when that shop's open and in the drive here at home when it's not and right now for the next many month's it's not open . I'm not real keen on JB weld for something like this , something I used to get called liquid steel has been in my harley carb's venturi for 15 years plugging a hole I drilled in it for a improvement that I took back off and then drilled back through and then plugged again a couple times over the years . So far the toothpick is working and they're cheap ! Take care ...Randy
