1950T Traction Question

I have a 1950T (not 4WD) on a ranch
southeast of Austin. The soil is mostly
sand.

I've noticed when working with the front-
end loader (trying to dig up a stand of
Yaupon trees), that I get too much traction.

In other words, instead of pushing forward,
the rear wheels bury in the sandy soil.

Short of replacing this tractor with an
expensive 4WD model, is there anything
I can do? I do have the stand-offs for
dual rears. Should I put on duals?

The rear tires are about 30% tread. Would
new tires help or just make matters worse?

Try those diamond tread turf type tires. they don't dig in like the bar tread does.

Try duals, triples but do not add weight. You can also try to let some air out of your tires in sand you want to spread your weight out so if you air down your tires will get wider and disperse the tractors weight over more area, but be carefull you let out too much and you will spin the tires on the rim and deflate.

The duals would help if you can get through where you need to go with them on rear weight would help too or both we did this to our 1650 put duals on and hung a sprayer tank on the 3 pt steered much nicer with the tank on too. The tank was easy to remove but we often just left the duals on. Good luck.
