My 2255 has a serial number stamped in the metal plate that reads X-681. There is no model number stamped into the plate. This doesn't match anything that was in the magazine that I just received. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you,
Greg Davis :?:

So far all I have found out about my tractor is that it is experimental. Mary Ann at the museum says it should not have left Charles City with that tag on it. It should have been issued a new serial number before leaving charles city. I'll keep working on it.

Well, I talked to Mary Ann at the museum. She also called some other people. She said if this tractor was experimental it should not have left Charles City with that serial number plate. It should have been assigned another regular serial number plate. She is still researching a build card and I am still very curious.
Thanks,
Greg

Experimental tractors were given similar numbers as yours in place of a regular serial number. What is the history of your tractor? Could it be an experimental unit?

Not sure. It came from Craig Iowa area (Northwest Iowa). It has the aftermarket Eagle air conditioning kit on it. Where would I find out more information about these experimental models? I hope I have a rare one.
Thanks,
Greg Davis

Contact the Floyd County Museum in Charles City, Iowa. They have records from the plant that was in Charles City. Their phone number is 641 228-1099 and their e-mail is [email protected].

Let us know what you find out about the tractor.
