Has anyone figured out a way to buy paint for oliver tractors reasonable. The stores around KY want from $85 - $100 a gallon for acrylic enamel. Will regular enamel work and where can I purchase it?

Larry,

Good paint isn't cheap. If you're doing a restoration I would advise using the higher quality (more $$$) paint. Inexpensive paints TYPICALLY don't hold up; they oxidize (fade) chalk, and are susceptable to failure from solvents, chemicals, grease & oil; they scratch easily- they are TYPICALLY junk. Cheap, uh, inexpensive paint is available from farm/ag supply houses (try CT Farm & Country @ 1.888.828.3276). I don't know how old your tractor is, I've got pre 1951 fleetlines & the Martin-Senour colors are: Green 99L-8746 Yellow 90T-3753 Red 99L-3752
A local automotive paint supplier should be able to cross reference those codes & match the in a variety of paint grades. Happy Painting!

p.s.- The CT catalog shows the Oliver paint at about $17.00 per gallon- CHEAP PAINT!

LARRY BE AWARE THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT GREENS DEPENDING ON THE YEAR - NAPA HAS THE CORRECT COLORS BY YEAR IF YOU ASK! AND I DON'T KNOW OF A CHEAPER SOURCE THAN NAPA.
