I recently purchased an Oliver backhoe and am having trouble with the shuttle ( forward and reverse). When it's cool it will go forward and reverse ok but after a few minutes it hardly moves. It helps to use the lower gears but it's auful slow. I don't know the year but I suspect it's a late fity or early sixtys, It's a large back hoe with loader. All other hydrawlicks work ok. Any suggestions? Maybe oil weight or type?

First of all Oliver offered more than one model of backhoe. Second from the first one to the last one more than one vendor was used for the shuttle. So the first thing I would do is figure out what the model is, get the correct manual and then see what the recommended fluid is. Get the correct fluid , change the filter and make some pressure checks if is still is not working properly. Is the dash sheet metal or cast iron? Did you look for a serial number tag? You should have more than one, but the serial number tag for the tractor will be on the dash. Start there: Questions? J.
