I removed my pto shaft to replace the worn hub. After change I slid the shaft back being careful not to disturb the plates however I must have pushed the metal drive disc out of the slot. Wondering if you have a suggestion I quit last night due to vampire skeeters. Thanks

Got done yesterday, my biggest problem was doing it alone. It requires 2 people one on top and 1 below, I must have been under that sucker 30 times and feel it today however it was worth it. Thanks for your time. Next project is the 66 parked next to it.

Its a super 55, the rear hub was worn out{PTO]so I removed the front set screw, the rear retainer removed and the shaft slid out. The old hub was replaced and slid thru the roller bearings to the PTO hub as I said I took care not to push the discs out of the hub however working alone I was hampered and the first fiber disc and the metal is probably out too. I will be working on it in the morning so thats the reason for my post. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks Jake

I never worked on one that way. I always left the shaft in, in fact I don't recall ever having the shaft out of one. Then I would take the clutch assembly out and work on it that way. I will admit I have put a plate or two back in position from the bottom but then there was something else wrong so I would up splitting it anyways. Make sure your set screw is good and tighten it securely and the locking screw as well. Questions? send me a phone number.

Thanks for the reply. The Manule says it can be done. The reason for pulling the shaft was to replace the rear hub which was was torn up [ up-down 3/16" slop] and a new stub won't fit. Will go out with clear head in a few minutes. I rebuilt the PTO 6yrs ago and all the discs are still intact viewing from the bottom. Let you how it turns out.
