Last year I was havin trouble with my 1550 gas cuttin out under load(heavy bushhoggin).Someone told me sounds like starvin for fuel.Said I had screen and bowl on there with a in-line fuel filter goin to carb.Told me to get rid of in-line fuel filter.Well I said to myself yeah right it will be that simple, things just dont seem to work that easy for me.Well I commenced to finish my bushhoggin last year spittin and sputterin and cuttin out till I finished it then pretty much parked it for the winter. This year got her goin again, ran pretty good in the thin stuff.when I hit the thick stuff she started actin up again. So I ran down to the auto parts store and bought a new in-line filter.well to no avail she was still actin up.So I said what the heck remove the filter, got nuthin to lose.Well let me tell ya,I was amazed.Feels like I got a new tractor.By the way anyone gotta a 12 bottom plow they wanna sell,LOL.I dont remember who gave me that tip,but thanks anyways. In the future Ill try and be more optimistic.
Stan

I had the same problem on my OC-3 crawler. When the fuel tank started getting low the engine would die suddenly. In a few minutes it would restart normaly. I found that a low fuel level in the tank didn't create enough head pressure to force the fuel through the in-line filter (installed by the PO)at a rate that would keep up with the engine. The PO also had replaced the vented gas cap with a non-vented one which didn't help matters either.

Well its like this, them in-line filters are made for fuel systems with fuel pumps and almost no tractor has a fuel pump. The only in-line filters I have seen work well on a tractor are ones made for lawn mowers and motorcycles they don't have fuel pumps either. The in-line filters made for car/trucks work with 7-15 PSI pushing the fuel you you just don't have that on a tractor. Its sort of as the old saying goes K.I.S.S.

Hah,but I am stupid, lol.I should of known that.Common phrase in AA,which I been a member of for 15 yrs.Anyways the tractor had the filter on it when I bought,so I didnt have a clue if it belong there or not.The fuel pump pressure theory though makes all the sense in the world.
So anyone find me a 12 bottom plow yet,LOL.
Thanks Guys
