I stopped by the local Automotive Supply and ordered a pertronix kit fot the 1600, guess it'll cost right around $85, be here in 7-10 days. Dang, hoped I could get it by Friday but I guess I can wait a few more days....

I think you will like the kit. I put one in our 880 along with a MSD Blaster ignition coil and 8.8mm Accel wires (the standard make-your-own wires are junk).

Make sure you read the instructions as to if you need to add a resistor and the polarity that your system needs to be. I don't think you will need a resistor with a stock coil, but check. Your system will need to be negative ground unless they have come out with a new kit since I purchased mine. Again, I'm going off of memory.

By the way, do you think your neighbor with the 1850 (or what ever it was) would part it out? I'm looking for a 4x4 axle, drive shaft, and transfer case to go with a transmission I have and since you are not too far away, it would be a nice short drive to haul the parts.

Parting it out is way beyond their capabilities, and I'm sure if she could sell both at once she'd be happy.

The 1600 is already negative ground, and the new guages needed negative ground anyway.

Who should I contact to find out how much they want for it? Just click on my email if you want.

Regards,
Eric

I'd have to ask my mother who to contact about the Ollies, and they don't have a price yet. I'm hoping in July I can go out to look at them and see just how bad they are, or if they are better than they look from the pictures.

right now I just came home from my 2nd shift job after my class at the tech from 9:30- 3:30. Soon as I get home tonight I saw the cows were out so we chased them around for about 1 hr. and then cleaned up some of the mess.

What a night....

I remember getting in the same type of situations back in school. I was farming and working 20 hrs/week plus carrying a full load credits. Oddly enough, I find I had more time back then than I do now with working full time. Needless to say I sypathise with your bad evening.

I work with several 40 year olds that sit in front of the computer and play video games at night since they have nothing better to do. To tell you the truth, I would much rather be out chasing cows at 3 AM than be widdling my life away playing Doom every night. Maybe that is just me.

Anyrate, let me know what you find out about the big 4x4. I just bought an engagment ring so my tractor fund is a little low right now, but if the right deal comes along, I may just have to jump on it.

I'm in about the same boat as you- I want to get a ring by the fall, and I still want a new truck before winter. I'm getting ahead on my bills and such so both just might be possible. My new job is paying a little more and so far I'm working a couple more hours too, and by the end of the summer I'll be going full time work part time student again, one more year and I'm done.
