how hard is it to take the belt pulley assy. off a oliver 88. do you have to have any special parts to put back on once removed. i would think it would take some kind of cover and could it be made.

Not hard to take off, 6 3/8 inch bolts plus 1 1/2 inch bolt. Yes, you will need a cover. It needs to hold the oil seal. You will also need to cover the hole where the oil runs in to the pulley. That can be fabricated from a flat plate and a gasket. I think there is one more hole also and a pipe plug goes in there. Part number for the assembly (cover) you are looking for is either KS 619 or 618. Have a memory loss. Any one off of any 77 or 88 will work. Questions?

Back in the days when we stocked a new one the seal came as part of the assembly. You will also need to remove the seal wear sleeve to get the pulley drive gear off. The O-ring under the shaft will also need to be replaced. Where are you located or do you know of a parts tractor that maybe has one on. J.

i found a cover on yesterdays classified ads that is not a original but fellow said would work just as good. it is a 3 bolt flange with a piece of pipe in middle. he said the seal goes in pipe and it has a ear welded on side for the clutch spring. talked with mark korves and he thinks it should work just as good as the original. i don't know just that's why i am asking a lot of questions
