Hi I bought a 1945 Cletrac HG-42 finally got it running and blew one of the cylinders of the front end loader. I was wondering if it is a common loader model and availibity of parts. What broke was a barrel that holds the packings is made of cast about 12" long and has a casting number of 311-1143. Should I have a new one machined of steel at a huge price, shop for a new part or try and buy two matching cylinders that would fit. The overall length from pin to pin while compressed is 47". Any Ideas would be appreciated. Mike

What make is the loader, I might have the cylinder/s you are looking for. The cylinders I have are from a Horn loader and do not have down pressure. Where are you located? Cal

Thanks Cal. I'm not sure what make the loader is. It looks original equipment to me. It does not have down pressure but uses gravity. The part is about 2 1/2" outside diameter and 9" long. Made of cast iron. It has a hex at one end and threads on the other. the overall length of the cylinder is 47' pin to pin and I would guess extended is about 8 feet. Thanks and I am in eastern Washington

Mike, I am pretty sure what I have is what you describe. can you post a picture of it? I pulled these cylinders off an Oliver that was about to be scrapped nearly 25 years ago. The cylinders are in good shape. I am in Connecticut! Cal
