Hi, I bought an Oliver Cletite HG42. No spark and I was wondering if there are more than one type or a cross reference to replace my magneto. It's a Wilco XH2500. On e-bay there is a few but with different part numbers Closest is a Wilco XH2522. Would this work for me. Sorry fo such a maybe silly question but I just am learning the ways...Thanks

Usual thing on ebay - buyer beware. Unless you know it is better than your present magneto, you may be wasting money. Magnetos were used for years without huge problems. Basic checks and fixes generally get them running well.
Plenty of experts to refurbish your mag, if required.
Your post "no spark" may indicate all sorts of things - from sticky impulse coupling, dirty or improperly set contacts, leaky condensor, wet, cracked or dirty distributor cap, missing parts, wrong leads, dead plugs, burned coils, demagnetised field magnets and a few other minor possibilities. Probably have only one of those faults.
Nothing really comlicated in a mag. Just basic generation circuit, contact points and condensor to feed the coil then collapse the magnetic flux induced in the coil, coil to convert magnetic flux to high tension electrical energy output and distribution system to transfer that spark energy without leakage to the appropriate spark plug at the appropriate time.
My advice - fix it yourself or get it fixed by someone who can.
Regards, RAB

Can't help you much but if you want a couple pages from a manual for a OC-3 uses the same mag just drop me an e-mail and I'll scan the 2 pages from the maunaul that tells how to work on that mag. Mag are very simple and most of the time are easy to fix
