I went to an auction yesterday, and bought a pair of
steps which appear to be factory made. The steps
have tool boxes under each bottom step. When I look
at my parts manual, I can't find any steps for an
Oliver 88 maybe I don't have the right parts manual, or maybe they wern't made by Oliver. What color are they supposed to be? Are they made by
Oliver? Can you tell me anything about them??

Two companies made steps for the Olivers from the late 40"s to the early 60"s. One had a tool box underneath. They fasten around the hex axle. there was a gent with repro"s on E-bay not too long ago.

They are probably off of an International 1066. they sound like the ones that I have on my 1066. They should be red. Oliver didn't make any steps for an Oliver 88.

My son happens to have a 1026 in his shop right
now, and the steps don't come close to fitting that
big axle, but they do have red paint on the bottom

In the 50's my dad bought a new Super 77 and Super 88 and they both had the tool box steps. They were made by the Kneodler (sp) company. All Oliver dealers could put them on the tractors, but I think they were listed as "after market".

I think one of the Oliver chapters of H.P.O.C.A. is selling a reproduction of the tool box steps. The one's I have see are very close to the orginal, but not exactly.

The latest "Oliver Heritage" had an article about after market products and there was an ad for steps that would work on the fleetline, super and three didgit series Olivers. I don't believe Oliver made such steps. They did have a step that could be used on tractors with the power traction hitch. It was set up so you could get on the tractor from the front of the operators platform.
