OK, my three point is weak and I need to rev the tractor up wide open to raise a load. It will then leak down in about two hours after the tractor is shut off. I checked pump pressure (1700 psi), and checked the external valve a couple months ago.
I have the hyd. cover off now. The lift cylinder and internal control vlave are removed. I went through the control valve today and everything seemed clean. I found no dirt, particles, or debris. No debris in the rlief valve assembly. Everything look OK.
The lift cylinder has some light scoring. I plan to hone it out and relplace the O ring on the piston. There was some crud in front of the piston in the cylinder that concerned me.
What else do I need to check? Do I need to presure test the internal control valve somehow? I really do not think I have found the cause of my problem yet. I do not want to put it back together and have the same syptoms. Thanks.

I'm having similiar issues with my 550. Check for trash between the checkball and spring. Possibly a broken checkball spring. A leaking O ring can cause this. Be sure to use the correct size O rings. Mr. Schwiebert can be of great help if you do not have a Oliver manual. The I&T manuals are a little better than nothing.

I can tell by reading your post you do not have a shop manual. There is a procedure for checking that but you need the instructions and a shop press in which you can mount the lift cylinder and control valve. Questions?

John is talking about the shop manual. Not the I & T. The shop manual is three large volumes and is quite detailed. It tells how to remove, test, rebuild, and reassemble step by step. If you want to work on your tractor yourself it is invaluable. You can get a CD form of the manual on ebay, but I have heard it is not chaptered, so is difficult to search for sections.

Yes, I have the I&T shop manual # O-201, it covers several models. The Super 55/550 section says previously manual # O-11A.
I do have a shop press, but I do not remember seeing this procedure in the manual. I will re-read it and look some more.
Thanks
