Hydraelectic cylinder question

I just hooked up a cylinder to the tractor. It is one that came off of a traction hitch which will go back on the traction hitch. The cylinder hasn't been used in quite a while as in probably over a decade. The cylinder is very clean and the outer seal on the ram end seems good so far. My question is that there are 2 weep holes on the side of the cylinder at the ram end. The smaller inner one is seeping and possibly running out at times. Is there an inner seal bad or may it work out of it. The oil coming out of it is pretty dark. I thought about putting it on the disk for a little while to work it a little. Let me know what I'm looking at here.

That seal you are talking about is just to wipe the dirt off. The seals that are leaking are inside the head of the cylinder and the cylinder will need to come apart. Questions? J

Yep, I have a question. What is the difference in the 2 weep holes. The large one is not leaking and the small one is. The cylinders I've dealt with in the past leak up at the front where the dirt get's wiped off. They do not have weep holes. What is the difference?

Man it has been 30 plus years since I had one of those apart. You are talking 4 inch steel tube type cylinder Correct. Are both of these weep holes in the cylinder head. Are you counting the one in the barrel that you use to take the cylinder apart? Maybe next week I can find a cylinder to look at or maybe you can post a picture.
