Hello all, I've just purchased an oliver 1450 (yea the fiat one) from a friend, it ran real good, but the rear end siezed up on him, and he dosn't want to mess with it, so i've bought it. heres what he said happened:he was heading towards the barn driving the tractor, and it just stopped, motor stalled, and tractor wouldn't move. he jacked the rear end up in the air, got the back wheels turning good, lowered her back down, started it up, took off, went about 5ft or so, did the same thing again, locked back up, so he dragged it off to the side of the road, and thats where is sits. he's had someone look at it, they said it could be a bearing in the rear end. to me it seems as though a bearing wouldn't just lock up solid and stop the whole thing dead. right now the starter needs to be rebuilt. but its just had a new hydrolic (spelling?) pump, and several other things, everything is in good mechanical condition other than the rear end being siezed. also the pto shifter doesn't seem quite right he said. perhaps something broke off it, and lodged in a gear?? my plans for now are to: fix the starter to see if the engine will turn over (with clutch depressed) dissasemble rear end to look for broken gears/something lodged somewhere. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks, Tom
