Hello, need advise on removal of power steering cylinder. I can't get the end studs out to remove the cylinder. They have the notched nuts with the pin that goes through them. Tried pounding a bit with a wood block, but it's not budging.
Also, can the power steering cylinder be disassembled? I see that there is a snap ring on the front. Can the cylinder rod be pulled out after removing the snap ring to replace the O-rings or seals? The manual does not show a cylinder so it is not much help. Thanks

the cylinder is welded. the rod won't come out unless you cut the weld. if the rod is good just replace the seal and wiper on the end of the shaft, under the snap ring. you can still get the seal kit from your dealer. I've used a brass drift to get the cylinders off, or a piece of hard wood, anything that won't hurt the threads will work. I think the parts number for that kit is 106-562-AS It's a Saginaw Booster cylinder 1 3/8 " Bore, 8 1/2 " Stroke 1/2 " rod
