Can someone tell me if the 1600 Oliver uses the same block for the diesel engine as the 1650 uses
for the gasoline engine, or if the 1600 diesel block was used in any other Oliver engine. It is a 4 main bearing block

Both the gas and diesel engines in the model 1600 used the same crankcase. There was a change made during the years of production. The early crankcase should have #155119A in raised digits in the second row on the left hand side. As far as repair parts numbers, for a repair part the numbers were different in that the dipstick tube was a different length, those for gas had the bushing for the governor where that area was plugged in a diesel.
The late 1600 crankcase was used in the gas 1650 also. Diesel crankcase was different. My information shows that the crankcase with the 155119A was only used in the 1600.

I think the 1650 gas and early 1650 diesel use the same block as the 1600. Also late 880 diesels with the roosa pump are basically the same engine. I think the blocks interchange right back to the 88 diesel as long as you have the timing cover etc. for the roosa master injection pump. Note: If you find a gas block don"t use the gas crank as the diesel crank has harder journals.

You better rethink that. All 1650 diesel engines have 7 main bearings. 88 Blocks and an cranks will not interchange with 1600 gas or diesel and later 265 gas engine (1655-2-70's) as the thrust bearings are different. Also the gas engines in the 1600 use a different crank than the diesel because of rod pin diameters. Questions?
