If you do not have a serial number plate, you can come close by looking at the cast dates on various components on the tractor. * Old gave you a suggestion for dating when the engine crankcase was cast. It will be the lowest row of raised digits behind the starter area of the crankcase.
* Look inside the LH side of the front frame casting, there is a cast date in raise digits representing the date when the casting was poured.
* Look under the transmission and there will be a cast date for the housing in raised digits.
* Lastly, if you want to get serious, remove the front fuel tank support where it bolts to the rear of the crankcase. You will find a date stamped into the machined area. this is when the engine was assembled at Waukesha. You should be able to nail down the year, unless it is a "put together tractor".

If I remember right the number should also be on the block behind the starter.
