Hydramotor o-ring leakage?

I have a worsening hyd. leak around the steering hydramotor on my 1950. Upon inspection it seems all of the hoses are fine and that its coming from the big o-ring that seals the hydramotor in its housing. Is this a common or even probable problem? If so how much trouble is it to replace this o-ring once the unit is pulled from the dash and can it be found at most any auto parts store? I have the I&T shop manual for it but I worry it may come out in a million pieces once I remove the retainer ring and separate it. Thanks for any help on the matter.

Once you have removed the retaining ring. The pressure plate spring should force the motor up but not completely out of the cover. (As the manual says, "You may have to tap around the outside of the cover if there is a bur". I had to spray mine with PB Blaster and let it set awhile.) After the motor has risen, turn the whole assembly upside down and clamp it in a vice. Lift the cover from the motor as gently as you can. There are vanes and rings that can fall out. I did not turn mine upside down and several vanes fell out. Nothing flew out across the room or anything though.
I did not try to reassemble it as I replaced it with a Char-Lynn motor.

Hope this is of some help.

I have a spare on hand from a parted out 2150 if I mess it up. Thanks for the heads up.
